The Best Monday Ever
Do you ever have just a very, very good day?
It's not like today was groundbreaking in any specific way.
It has actually been extraordinarily ordinary.
I haven't been able to run lately because I've had a really bad cough and your lungs kind of need to be on board if you're going to go for a jog. Today was the first time in over a week that I've hit the pavement in my running shoes and it felt like the world had suddenly been splashed in color. I was breathing in air and really feeling everything around me.
I thank God for the little mundane Monday details that make me feel so alive.
Today has been Phillip Phillips. Today has been the scent of vanilla. Today has been listening to Everyday Sunday on repeat, doing homework, wearing some worn in blue flannel, comforting my crazed beagle and breathing. And I love that.
Some lyric love:
- "Settle down, it'll all be clear. Don't pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear."
- "All I know is I'm so tired living life I barely feel. Give me hope, give me fire, give me something real."
- "The Lord our God is ever faithful! Never changing through the ages. From this darkness, You will lead us. And forever we will say, You're the Lord our God."
I know this comment will probably seem ridiculously fast, but hey! I was checking my blog feed when your popped up so i read it and i love it so I have to comment. Phil Phillips<3 Yes. Home<3 Yes. Love him, love the song, yes, yes, yes. And i know that feeling. I like those days too:) And running.
ReplyDeletethis was such a wonderful, wonderful post! i love that picture you snapped and it really made me feel like a brat for taking for granted all the mundane bits of life, because they are all special. you made me take a moment and slow down and appreciate :)

Oh yes! You've just summed up what I think I've learned here in the blogging world.
ReplyDeleteTo enjoy the mundane things.
Because really, by what definition are they mundane? Who's?!
Just because things happen again, doesn't mean we have to respond the exact same way. (not that we really can anyway)
Just because my sister has been my sister for 17 years shouldn't make her boring to be around after all these years, she's changed just as I have!
But we get stuck in a self-focused rut.
And need brave people like you to write and remind us, and more than that, encourage us on as well. =)
Long comment, sorry! (sorta)
I like your posts especially because you get to the point, and don't beat around the bush, like I usually do in my head.

P.s. I think the way you've simplified your blog design is very good; I liked the Maples and Melodies, but this fits your purpose much better and helps define it.
